Another French Jazz festival, Jazz in Vienne, Rhône Alpes, June 30-July 13
The 2004 festival promises to be an interesting mixture of styles with a celebration of 50 years of rock, Chuck Berry is due to launch the festival with Ike Turner and the Kings of the Rhythm at the Roman amphitheatre of Vienne (the largest Roman theatre in Europe), near Lyon. He will be followed by the sounds of Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater and the Count Basie Orchestra among many others. Various venues will host other major concerts and there is an extensive fringe program spilling from the cafes and bars into the streets.
