The Sound of Silence
I came across this comment on the
Big Road Blues site,
'Don't be afraid to play less, to work with your voice (guitar) and with the silence between the notes.
A lotta nothing is still nothing. A little something... now THAT's something!'
and I was struck by the thought that it is this which separates the artist from the average musicians. Everyone plays the same notes, musical genius is created by the space between them; whatever the musical style or tradition.
