Spectacular Mid Mountain Trail
I just wanted you to know that this afternoon I went on one of the best rides of my life. So reports a contributor to the Mountain Trails Foundation home page. The rider was raving about the newly completed, spectacular Mid Mountain Trail, which provides unprecedented access to some of Summit County's most beautiful backcountry.
Featuring nearly 25 miles of singletrack winding through the aspens just a few miles from downtown Park City, the route is also known as the 8,000-foot Trail because it rolls up and down at this elevation nearly the whole way between Deer Valley, Park City Mountain Resort, The Colony and The Canyons Resort. The trail includes some rocky terrain, awesome vistas and picturesque alpine meadows. Nearby routes add at least another 200 miles of connected trail.
The Park City-based Mountain Trails Foundation has been instrumental in developing the Mid Mountain Trail and other trails in and around Park City. The non-profit group has donated thousands of hours of volunteer trailwork during the past 10 years and helped build and advocate for more than 300 miles of trails in the area and their efforts have been justly rewarded because the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) has awarded Park City's Mid Mountain Trail with the coveted IMBA Epic designation.
