When your good, very good,

When your good, very good, you cross musical boundaries and your music is appreciated by audiences all over the world. Zakir Hussain is today appreciated both in the field of percussion and in the music world at large as an international phenomenon.

If you haven't already picked up on the astonishing playing of Zakir Hussein, recently performing in the soundtrack for Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ', click on the 10 minute clip of a complete, live Tabla solo in Drummerworld.

Hussain has settled in Marin County, USA for part of the year to escape the mob adoration he is subjected to in his native India. He plays dates at small theaters in Marin County that would draw tens or even hundreds of thousands of people in India. For example, the Mercury News reports that he will be playing on Sunday (5 p.m.) at Campbell's Heritage Theater -- tickets are $25-$55.
