Ellen Macarthur is now over a third of the way in to her attempt to break the record for sailing a multihull around the world non-stop. The time to beat is 72 days 22 hours 54 minutes 22 seconds, set by French sailor, Francis Joyon, on board the 90-foot multihull IDEC in February 2004.
Having covered 9654 miles on the 25th morning, Ellen is just 20 hours ahead as she heads on an easterly course at 18 knots in a 30 knot north-west wind but a storm is brewing so

Ocean Rowing Society keep tabs on whose doing what, where.
I even heard of one adventurer who is planning to row around Antarctica; his reasoning being that it is the shortest circumnavigation route! Only 600 days rowing.
