Tree climbing

This weekend, half a million residents in the UK will be participating in the annual Big Garden Birdwatch but there are a large number of people around the world who like to see things from the birds' perspective.

Treeclimbing International is a worldwide organization of people who love to climb trees and they get serious. Recreational tree climbing is no longer just for children; the organisation encourages people of all ages to join them.

People like retired photojournalist Elliot Su, who finds nothing more relaxing than a day spent sitting in a treetop contemplating the wonders of nature. Su founded the Taiwan chapter of Tree Climbing International (Chinese site) just over a year ago and has taught over 1,000 recreational tree climbers.

Since 1976, there has even been an International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC).

German, Bernd Strasser's victory in last year's championship made him the only climber in the history of ITCC to win the title five times.
