Howes-Macnaghten Monofoil ® has been under development for 7 years and is regarded as
the world's most advanced speed sailing craft.A picture on their web site
looks like something from Star Wars and it's difficult to make out which bits go in the water but if you look at a brief
movie clip it becomes clear that the usual vertical sail is replaced by horizontal aerofoils;
imagine a small aeroplane mounted above the hull on a mast.A similar concept from Stephen Bourn can be seen on
the Fresh Innovators forum site.

However, crucial to the Howes-Macnaghten design is the attention that they have paid to the water interface; their approach both avoids cavitation and is not dependent on flat water.
