I have just been on the
Vendee Globe 2004 web site and
it looks as if Breton mariner, Vincent Riou should have a relatively straightforward passage to the finish at Sable d'Olonne tonight, to
be declared winner of the Vendee Globe 2004.
But it's amazing how close the lead boats are after sailing around the world, singlehanded, without any stopover. Don't forget, these guys are not allowed any personalised outside assistance, so no support crew recommending strategy.
