Sail8

Following the Live8 concerts, people are being urged to make their way to Edinburgh in time for a meeting of the world's richest G8 countries in Gleneagles; making their feelings felt about Making Poverty History.

It won't be hard to get to Edinburgh. The Make Poverty History campaign is co-ordinating transport from across the UK and at the same time, boat owners along the south coast are being asked to sail across the Channel to collect more demonstrators making their way to Edinburgh on The Long Walk to Justice.

Bob Geldof has initiated the Sail8 campaign calling on boat owners to sail on 3rd July in a Dunkirk style flotilla across the Channel, to bring back more marchers for an anti-poverty walk to Edinburgh.

Ellen MacArthur is hoping to sail in the mass flotilla of boats, noting that showing support for Sail8 was more important than finishing the crossing.

The symbol of the Making Poverty History campaign is a simple White Band available from
The Body Shop
Oxfam Shops
Save the Children Shops
And also online.

Supporters are also being urged to eMail Tony Blair, urging him to deliver on his promise to Make Poverty History; there is an online form at the Make Poverty History web site.
