Dutch Masters From the Rijksmuseum

In a rare treat for Australian audiences, Dutch Masters From the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam is in Melbourne at the National Gallery of Victoria until 2 October, 2005.

NGV Director Dr Gerard Vaughan said that they had secured some absolutely amazing works, masterpieces that would not normally leave the walls of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam; the exhibition is only possible due to the major renovation happening at this great European gallery.

A wonderful selection of paintings featured in the exhibition have been put on line.

In an article in the Age, Gerard Vaughan offers insight into Johannes Vermeer whose masterpiece The love letter is a centerpiece of the exhibition.
