The Bolshoi 2005/06 Season

The Bolshoi Theater's 2005/06 season will open on September 10, 2005 with last season's production of the Giaccomo Puccini opera Madam Butterfly.

The new operatic program includes British director Graham Vick's production of Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute, which is being staged to mark the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth, and veteran director Boris Pokrovsky's production of War and Peace by Sergei Prokofiev.

Prokofiev's ballet Cinderella is scheduled to return to the Bolshoi Ballet's repertory in an interpretation by young choreographer Yuri Posokhov and Yuri Grigorovich, former artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet, is going to revive his production of Dmitri Shostakovich's The Golden Age.

The Ballet's tour in South Korea, October 2 to 10, 2005 will feature Aram Khachaturyan's Spartacus and Adolphe Adam's Giselle. Then in spring 2006, the company will be performing in Britain, March 26 to April 23, and in Japan, May 1-25, 2006.
