Bulgarian archaeologists from the National History Museum of Bulgaria have announced that they have unearthed about 15,000 golden ornaments, estimated to be between 4,100 and 4,200 years old.
A find that they believe to match the famous treasure of Troy.
The earliest inhabitants of Bulgaria, which borders Greece, were the Thracians who ancient Greek historian Herodotus described as the second biggest tribe in the Ancient world, after the Indians.
The best known of the Thracians being Spartacus and Orpheus. It is assumed that the people responsible for the treasure were ancestors of the Thracians, who lived in what is now Bulgaria and parts of modern Greece, Romania, Macedonia and Turkey.
