The Great Dorset Steam Fair is widely recognized as the leading event of its type in the UK and, indeed, in Europe. Held each year on a vast site at South Down, Tarrant Hinton, near Blandford Forum in Dorset UK,
it is probably the largest collection of steam and vintage equipment to be seen anywhere in the world.
Working displays include veteran and vintage vehicles, steam tractors, showmans engines and fairground organs. There are also heavy horses and 5 stages under canvas offering a a variety of music to suit a wide audience.
Refreshment is to be found in a beer called Tanglefoot, brewed by Badger Brewery of Blandford Forum, Dorset. They have been serving up good ale since 1777.
This year's event is on Wednesday 31st August 2005 to Sunday 4th September 2005.
