Russian and British runners taking part in a relay run across Russia have now almost completed the 11,000km route. Runners began in Vladivostok, Russia's Pacific Ocean port, on 28 May, 2005 and the run is due to finish in the historic city of St. Peterburg on September 8, 2005.
The race has been organized by the
World Race Trust in association with Dmitry Shparo's
Adventure Club. It aims to both promote sport and a healthy lifestyle, and to also support a number of International and Russian Charities, in particular Charities Aid Foundation, which specialise in the care of abandoned, orphaned and homeless children.
