Requiem was premiered by Apollo Voices and the West Kazakhstan Philharmonic Orchestra in June this year. It is an uplifting requiem, dedicated to Karl Jenkins' father, who he describes as "a musician, a friend and an inspiration".
The Requiem mixes traditional text with five Japanese haiku in a fusion of East meets West, Pop meets Classical and typically blends tradition with innovation.
Karl Jenkins Requiem National Tour 2005 in England features other Karl Jenkins favourites including Palladio, excerpts from The Armed Man and Adiemus; while the Welsh Concerts also include music by Karl's teacher Alun Hoddinott with baritone Jeremy Huw Williams. Karl will be guest conductor for a few performances of the Requiem including the performance at Guildford Cathedral. The West Kazakhstan Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at Guildford and Lancing whilst all other concerts feature the Welsh Chamber Orchestra.
