Autumn colour in the UK

The UK's Forestry Commission have produced a nice on-line guide to the season's display of colour. Foresters are watching for the awesome autumn shades in every corner of Britain and their reports are used to updated the web site.

Each forest is given a rating from 'still green' to 'turned golden' when the colours are at their peak. The colour coded results are displayed on a clickable map of the UK, allowing the woods to be enjoyed at their brilliant best.

The commission also organise numerous activities at this time of year. Besides the obvious walking and cycling, there are things like fungi forays and plein-air painting.
