A twenty year old pianist, Rafal Blechacz has won the 2005 Frederick Chopin Piano Competition.
The prestigious international competition is only held every five years to celebrate the music of the great 19th-century Polish composer and it is 30 years since the event was last won by a Polish national (Krystian Zimerman).
In winning the event Blechacz totally outclassed all the other competitors who included some exceptional musicians and he is being hailed a new Chopin.
Concert tours of Japan, Moscow and Montreal are already being organized.
