Upper Deeside Forests , four separate Highland forests in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, all linked by their proximity to the River Dee, are the first in the UK to be reported as '
Turned Golden' by the 2005 Forestry survey.
The forests all have fantastic views of the surrounding hills, glens, forests and burns, with good access and car parks.
Cambus O'May Wood, which lies on the north side of the A93 between Ballater and Dinnet, is said to offer one of the best vantage points for viewing Deeside in this year's fall, just 40m from the car park.
The wood also lies about about 70 km west of Dunnottar Castle, 15 miles from Aberdeen on the east coast of Scotland; which gives me a great excuse to show you this magical picture of the Castle, captured by Chris Baugh.
Dunnottar Castle was the location for the film version of Hamlet starring Mel Gibson.
