Running from Saturday July 1 to Sunday July 23, 2006,
the 93rd Tour de France will be made up of a prologue and 20 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,600 kilometres.
It has also been announced that the 2007 Tour de France will begin in London. It will be the third time that the Tour has visited England but the first time it has visited London and a great honour that it is scheduled to start there.
London will host two stages in 2007, the first a prologue in the city centre on 7 July with the second starting in London before heading south through Kent and back across the channel.
