Authorities have been fighting to keep flooding under control as rivers reached record water levels, following heavy rain and melting snow.
The Danube broke through flood defences in South Eastern Europe, driving thousands of people from their homes along its banks in Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.
It rose to its highest level in Romania for more than a century but pressure on towns and villages that were struggling to hold back the floods has eased, following the breaching of a dam and controlled flooding to divert water.
The Hungarian Hydrological Forecasting Service provides a useful Daily River Stages Report on the Danube which covers the river from Schärding to Mitrovica, indicating current water levels, trends and flood risk.
