Mammoth Mountain, California, USA, is enjoying an extended season for skiing and riding due to record snowfall but yesterday saw an unprecedented avalanche of Mammoth proportions.
Fortunately there were no fatalities but some incredible escape stories and awesome video.

I was skiing at the top of Climax when the slide occurred. After riding the avalanche for a while I was able to self-arrest with my pole and one ski. The slide went around me while I clung to the mountain.
Immediately after it was over, I was the only person on what was left of the Climax run, about one third of the way down from the top. Did anyone happen to get any pictures of me on the mountain?
