The heaviest surfing wave on the planet, Teahupoo, will for the next two weeks play host to the true test of the Foster?s ASP Men?s and ASP Women?s World Tours, The Billabong Pro Tahiti.
Teahupoo or 'Chopes' as the break is dubbed by those who dare take the challenge, is a bone-crunching left-hander, which crashes down over extremely shallow and razor sharp coral reef, located 400 metres off shore.
Kelly Slater (USA) has won two from two events on the 2006 ASP World Tour. He hasn't given any clear indication of his long-term commitment to securing world title number eight, but has confirmed an all out assault on Teahupoo. On the Women's tour, Melanie Redman-Carr (AUS) has also got off to a flying start with two out of two wins.
The Billabong Pro Tahiti will begin on May 4th, all the action can be
viewed live via the Internet.
By the way, I wonder if anyone will be watching the sun rise at 06 05 04 03 02 01, the first second of the second minute of the third hour of the fourth day of the fifth month of year 06. If you do, send us a picture.
