Activity Holidays Guide Surfing Report.
After four events, the race for the 2006 ASP world title is really beginning to intensify. Floridian Damien Hobgood (USA) took top honours in the Globe WCT Fiji which puts him into third place on the ASP ratings behind second place Bobby Martinez (USA) and world number one Kelly Slater (USA). Martinez, who was defeated by CJ Hobgood in the quarterfinals, is still on track to claim the world crown in his first year on the tour; since, as reported previously in
Beyond Boarders, Kelly Slater didn't compete in Fiji due to injury and only 100 points now separate them.
Americans currently hold the top four spots in the ratings with Andy Irons(HAW) at number four.

Cloudbreak again came up with near perfect, two metre (six foot) waves for the final day of the Globe WCT Fiji. ASP Men's World Tour rookie, Shaun Cansdell, from New South Wales, Australia, took out Damien's twin brother in the semi-final but in the final, the other Hobgood grabbed the upper-hand early on, with luck giving him the better of two waves and from then on he worked to stay in front and secure a well-deserved victory in a seriously contested 30-minute final.
