The
Royal Academy Summer Exhibition is an open exhibition of art held annually in Burlington House, Piccadilly, right in the centre of London, since 1769. The exhibition includes paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, architectural designs and models with prizes of £70,000 and most works being available for sale.
Approximately 1,000 works of art, from 5,000 artists, are selected for display each year. Any artist may submit up to three works for selection but competition is fierce, with around 10,000 entries, each paying an entry fee of about £20.
This year's theme is 'From Life' and the exhibition runs until 20 August, 2006.
