Endurance swimmer, Lewis Pugh, who is the only person to have completed a long-distance swim in all five oceans of the world and is particularly known for his sub-zero polar swims, has now become the first person to swim the length of the River Thames.
He completed the swim today at Southend-on-sea after starting on 17 July, 2006, at the river's source, although he had to run the first 20 miles before the water was deep enough to swim in.
The swim has been aimed at publicizing the WWF campaign to highlight the impact that climate change is having on the world.
