This morning, Sunday, 3 September, the world's best women surfers woke up at Les Estagnots, France, to perfectly clean, four foot (one metre plus) waves and sunny skies.
After the stress of the past week and a faltering start to the Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle, the girls turned in an awesome day of high quality surfing.

There were plenty of big results, notably the elimination of current world number one and six-time world champion, Layne Beachley, at the hands of tour rookie Jessi Miley-Dyer. Jessi faces fellow Australian Chelsea Georgeson in the second semifinal, with the knowledge that she was the victor in their semifinal match in Brazil. Chelsea won through today, using a rapidly shaped board that was fashioned by husband Jason Hedges, having lost her boards during her transatlantic flight.
Back to her winning ways is Melanie Redman-Carr, who faces Brazilian Silvana Lima in the first of the semifinals. Silvana finished equal third in Brazil after being beaten by Layne Beachley.
Semifinal 1: Silvana Lima (Bra) vs. Melanie Redman-Carr (Aus)
