It's not just Europe that celebrates the wine harvest, there are some interesting tours to be had around U.S.A. wineries at this time of year.
Temecula Valley, California, has a Harvest Wine Festival on November 4 and 5, 2006, where visitors can join winery owners and winemakers to celebrate the 2006 harvest, enjoying delicious samples of perfectly paired foods with award-winning Temecula wines. Each winery is visited one time over the two-day period, either travelling independently via your own car, by purchasing a separate shuttle ticket , or by hiring a limousine service.
You have to be aged 21 or over though. That is not a restriction in French vineyards!
