The Men's ASP event, Quiksilver Pro France presented by Evian, kicked of on Saturday, 23 September and since then has experienced lay days as the conditions at Hossegor became progressively more ugly, with today presenting a howling onshore wind.
The swell, although still showing a little bit of size, was very lumpy and uninviting, so organizers will return tomorrow morning (Tuesday Sept 26) at 8am local time to make another call. Conditions are expected to improve from tomorrow and the event will probably resume within a couple of days; the scheduled window for completion runs through to October 1, 2006.
Kelly Slater (USA) and Andy Irons (HAW) both notched up solid wins in round one but it was a disapointing day for West Australian, Taj Burrow, who struggled to find the waves necessary to give him big scores. He must now wait until round two, when he faces French wildcard entrant, Joan Duru.
