This year's warm winter has caused problems for local governments in South Korea's southern region because flowers are blossoming earlier than their planned flower festivals. According to
The Hankyoreh, several species of flowers came into bloom in mid-February, forcing the local governments of Gwangyang and Gurye to hold their flower festivals ahead of schedule and early blooming of Cherry blossom is causing concern in many other areas.
In common with global warming reports from around the world, the South Korean national weather agency reported that this winter was recorded as the warmest winter for 104 years, when modern meteorological measurement began.
