One of the world's greatest and most important arts festivals, the Salzburg Festival, begins its 2007 season on Friday 27 July and runs through to 31 August, 2007. Being the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, it is not surprising that the festival is best known for hill to hill music, listen carefully and you might hear Julie Andrews and the Von Trapp children, but the festival also has a notable drama section and this year includes a new and innovative production of Ein Sommernachtstraum (Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's dream).
It is easy to travel to Salzburg from the rest of Europe and there is much to see and do in this charming Austrian city famous for its baroque architecture and breathtaking mountain scenery.
