I picked up on a nice
article by Dan Neuland in the Frederick News-Post Online, extolling the virtue of a family biking adventure along a canal towpath.
Dan wrote about the 184.5-mile long C&O Canal, located along the north bank of the Potomac River, starting in Washington, D.C., and ending in Cumberland, but it struck me that the essence of his words is true for other river and canal towpaths in America and throughout the world. Not only are canals rich in history, they invariably pass through beautiful, tranquil environments which are a haven for wildlife.
