Today, 3 February 1959, marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Buddy Holly. His musical career lasted only a year and a half, before his life was taken in an airplane crash in 1959, he was just 22 years old.
Despite performing and recording for such a short time, he left behind songs which have become standards and musically influenced a long list of world renowned musicians, such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
