The US clocks have sprung forward in spring for summer time and cherry blossom is blooming. Susan Derby, has put together a special article for the Los Angeles Times, detailing
US Cherry Blossom Festivals.
Her list begins March 20-29, 2009 with Macon, Georgia and moves through Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Los Angeles (Little Tokyo), San Francisco, Seattle, before finishing with Monterey Park, California from April 18-19, 2009. To these, we add New York City's great "rite of spring", the Sakura Matsuri, which will be held over the weekend of May 2-May 3, 2009, at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, complete with taiko drumming and a host of other celebrations of Japanese culture.
