Looking at the route which team "Don't Panic" is proposing to take for this year's Mongol Rally, I was reminded that they set off on their adventure a week after Naadam.
The Naadam Festival is the major Mongolian National Holiday. It runs July 11th - 13th and while festivals are held all over Mongolia, the biggest festival is held in the National Sports Stadium at the capital Ulaanbaatar.
The festival focuses on the "three games of men" Mongolian wrestling, horse racing and archery but includes plenty of food, music, crafts and midsummer fun.
