I have created a lens on Squidoo called
Gardens to Visit and while researching the Australian Open Garden Scheme, I came across their notice about the bushfires in Victoria.
Many beautiful gardens, including significant parks and landscapes have either been destroyed or severely damaged by the fires and I am sure that we all join with the Australian Open Garden Scheme in expressing deepest sympathy to everyone who has been affected.
The scheme organizers indicate that they intend announcing practical support for affected communities in their garden restoration and renewal activities.

This weekend sees the final leg of the 2007
Anaconda Adventure Race, Australian national series, at Lorne, Victoria, the series began back on 5 August, 2007 on the Gold Coast.
The Lorne Anaconda Adventure race is a gruelling 1.9km ocean swim, 800m beach run, 11.2km time trial run, 13km paddle, 22.7km mountain bike ride and a 2.8km beach run. It can be completed, either as an individual where you do all legs, or in teams of up to 4 people, with everyone doing a different leg, which puts it in easy reach of anyone ready to give it a go.
Last year's winner was Jarad Kohlar and he is back to defend his 2006 title, alongside more than 1000 competitors, who have converged on the coastal town of Lorne, basking in a cool 22 degrees of summer sunshine.
