Adrenaline packed Kitesurfing Holidays

Adrenaline packed Kitesurfing Holidays

Kitesurfing holidays provide for fun, thrills and adrenaline in a safe environment. Safety comes first amongst experienced kitesurfers; arguably that’s how they came to get experienced because kitesurfing is regarded by many as the most extreme of extreme sports.

There are many kitesurfing vacations to choose from and most are suitable for a wide range of abilities from beginners to experienced kitesurfers. Beginners will need to be able to swim! Just make sure that the holiday centre employs an accredited kitesurfing instructor. If you have proper instruction and learn how to handle the kite in different situations you will be safe, make it look easy and become experienced.

For those prepared to travel, it is possible to take a kitesurfing holiday at any time. A steady (non-gusting wind) is the most important climatic parameter.

What if I don't want tuition?

This is not usually a problem, many hotels at kitesurfing centres cater specifically for the needs of surfers and kitesurfers. The advantage of a recognised centre is that there will usually be local kitesurfers around to help with launching and giving advice about local conditions, parties and ale houses.

Kitesurfing Associations

There are a large number of associations around the world and they can be a useful source of information. Look up
The UK Kitesurfing Association.
The International Kitesurfing Organisation based in the Caribbean.
In Australia, theAustralian Kitesurfing Association
And in Hawaii, the Hawaii Kiteboarding Association.

Options for non-kitesurfing partners

Many holiday providers cater for non-participating partners. Kitesurfing holidays are usually located on vast spacious beaches so there are often several other water sports to try including opportunities for scuba diving. Away from the water, partners might draw, paint or go on inland hikes.

What equipment will I need?

Most holidays include all the equipment needed but if you own your own equipment you can take it with you and holiday providers will often give a discount. Remember however that you will need to package your board in a flight bag and airlines will charge you a fee to transport it. Also, you need to make sure that your equipment is suitable for the conditions at your destination.

Don’t forget the sun-block and
Seek the advice of the organisers.
