Take the Ski Train for Ski Holidays

9 hours from the Savoie.

UK snowboarders and skiers can now be just 9 hours from a ski holiday in the Savoie ski resorts.

Book your place now on board Eurostar’s twice weekly ski train.
Board at London’s Waterloo International (or at Ashford International in Kent) to enjoy a non-stop journey, all the way to the foot of the slopes in the French Alps.

Savoie’s best-loved resorts.

Take the train to Bourg-St-Maurice, Aime-la-Plagne or Moûtiers rail station and you are as little as 15 minutes away from some of the Savoie’s best-loved resorts.

Les Arcs

Les Arcs is just 10 minutes by funicular from Bourg-St-Maurice and has a great selection of ski runs for skiers of all abilities. Recently awarded the tourist board's top rating for kids (covering everything from instruction to safety and entertainment), Les Arcs is perfect for families.

A spectacular new cable car links the resort with La Plagne creating the largest skiing area in the world; called 'Paradiski', it is an ideal resort for all levels of skier.

Snow boarders and adrenaline junkies

Snow boarders and adrenaline junkies will probably head straight for La Plagne; with more than 128 ski runs, six slalom courses, two snowboard areas with half-pipes and 90 kilometres of cross-country ski tracks, there’s enough to keep anyone occupied.

Even more

For even more variety, you can also try bob-sleighing, snowmobiling (skidooing), outdoor ice skating, swimming in a heated outdoor pool, snowshoe walking, snowtubing (like sledging but on a rubber tube!), glacier skiing and if you still want something different, paragliding.

European Rail Network

Change trains in Paris and you will have even more choice. The rail network reaches the whole of the Alps. raileurope.co.uk is a useful site for the European rail traveller and for all your travel in France SNCF offer a convenient route and timetable search tool.

Haute Savoie

Franski.com provides (in French) an excellent searchable database of the French Alps ski stations, with
web cams, weather reports and forums

You might consider Morzine Avoriaz in the Haute Savoie, situated in the Chablais region, halfway between Evian and Chamonix. Nestling in a hollow of the mountain, Morzine has a traditional atmosphere which still retains ancient customs while the resort of Avoriaz adds a modern identity.

Trains from Paris and Geneva arrive several times a day, and a bus makes the 40-km. climb to the resort, or you could travel by train from Paris to Cluses and then take a Transport Alpbus to the resorts of Flaine, Samoëns, Les Carroz and Sixt at Morillon Grand Massif

Morillon Grand Massif

Here you will find ski or snowboard pleasures "à la carte". The skiable domain of the Grand Massif, served by 75 ski-lifts and high-tech equipment, totals 260 km, with long slopes through trees plus hard professional slopes.

Samoëns

The Samoëns site has more than 90 km of cross-country ski runs, spread over the territory of two areas depending on the snow conditions. When the snow cover allows it, in the valley between Morillon and Sixt, or on the magnificent site of Joux Plane in an enchanting environment, overhanging the Giffre Valley with a plunging view of Mont Blanc massif, the Aravis Massif and even as far as the Southern Alps.

Prefer to fly?

If you prefer to fly, the nearest airport to Morillon is Geneva. A bus runs daily from the airport and you can get timetable information from the airport tourist office.
